Restoration of the Grossmünster
A look behind the scenes
The Grossmünster was built between 1100 and 1220. To ensure the long-term preservation of this Zurich landmark’s valuable medieval structure, it will undergo extensive restoration work both inside and out over the coming years. We’ll go on a discovery tour together and learn how the experts work using a combination of modern and traditional techniques. If the weather’s kind, we’ll even climb the scaffolding and watch the stonemasons at work.
A guided tour organised by the Zurich Building Department.
Requirements: sure-footedness, sturdy footwear, no fear of heights.
Participation is at your own risk (ages 14 and over) and only with a signed consent form. If you wish to complete this on site: please arrive early; forms are available.
