Mircea Cărtărescu – Theodoros
One of the most significant voices in contemporary Romanian literature is returning to the Literaturhaus Zürich after more than ten years!
Mircea Cărtărescu has been regarded as a contender for the Nobel Prize in Literature for many years. In his novels, bleak realities repeatedly give way to surreal, metaphysical worlds. With his powerful and visionary prose, he explores art, Romanian history and the great questions of life. The writer will be speaking with his long-standing translator, Ernest Wichner, about the fantastical universe of his novel *Theodoros* (Zsolnay 2024) and his collection of poems *You Carry My Saturdays, I Carry Your October* (Zsolnay 2026).
