spooning&entre.les.montagnes / The craftly uncanniness behind the semblance of things
spooning&entre.les.montagnes
‘spooning&entre.les.montagnes’ is a piece about forgetting, repression and the possibilities of remembrance. Sami Lea Samira Bernath takes the ‘Löffelä’, an accompanying instrument that forms part of contemporary traditional Swiss music, out of its context and, from a queer perspective, embarks on a search for permeability and openness. By attempting to deconstruct this Swiss tradition, she explores ways in which intergenerational knowledge can nourish society and how exclusivity can be broken through reinterpretation. A play of traces, vibrations and dissonances permeates bodies and space to create a rhythm for all.
The craftly uncanniness behind the semblance of things
The ‘craftly uncanniness behind the semblance of things’ is a dance that, in the visual language of darkness—as the state in which the ego is confronted with the burden of its earthly existence and inner alienation—nevertheless possesses a deep, mysterious power: the will to exist and act in this world. Darkness erases everything, absorbs everything: forms and fire, animals and myself – how easily it unites all that is alive! How can the dark sides, our relationship with the (in)visible, moments of friction, inner struggle and isolation serve as emotionally enriching and magical encounters, opening us up to life?
