Dominik Flückigers Kinimode & Täktig – Heimatklänge #4

Folk music: new and yet very traditional

The final of the four «Heimatklänge» concerts this season once again sees a meeting between new and traditional Swiss folk music, all played at the highest level. Here, we get to know the sound universe of young Swiss accordion player Dominik Flückiger, via his unmistakable compositions and arrangements. Together with his group Kinimode, he combines traditional music with groove-laden jazz fusion, with buoyant yet delicate and sentimental results. The sheer quality of his group makes for a refreshing musical experience, with Lukas Gernet – whom we know from Gläuffig – on the piano, and Pirmin Huber from Ambäck on the bass. Like Flückiger, they are the exponents of a new Swiss folk music, to which they bring the utmost musical virtuosity.

For this concert, Flückiger has also invited young traditional trio Täktig, creating an inspirational juxtaposition of academic perfection with the kind of traditional playing skill that cannot be learned at school. Täktig play their preferred music from Central Switzerland and the Bernese Oberland in their very own «Täktig» way, with a real attention to detail.
