«Gadji Beri Bimba – Karaoke»

We do not know how the Dada sound poems of 1916—such as «Gadji Beri Bimba»—originally sounded. Hugo Ball performed this poem at the Cabaret Voltaire, and later, among others, the Talking Heads ventured their own interpretation in 1979. For Zurich's LONG NIGHT of Museums, we look forward to karaoke contributions from cultural practitioners—and from guests. DJ Silver Tears will fill the gaps and provide the transitions.

Depending on the performance, a sound poem can come across as a magic spell, a love song, or an act of protest. It demonstrates how sensitive, open, and diverse language can be. The many interpretations of «Gadji Beri Bimba» are particularly fascinating in connection with the current exhibition «DadaZwischenSprachen».
