"AIN'T THAT SOMETHING" - Philipp Fankhauser's new album? Yes, that's really something! Not that his previous seventeen albums were always free of surprises, but now it's pretty big. To say that it's "just" a blues album is not wrong, but it's not the whole truth either. Fankhauser and his congenial musicians swing effortlessly back and forth between country, gospel, R&B, zydeco, blues and French chanson with great enthusiasm and, of course, in the typical Fankhauser sound, with a good dose of soul, impressive authenticity and an originality that is unrivalled in this country.
