Alte Anatomie – Forum für Medizin & Gesellschaft

Follow organizer

The centre of Zurich is home to a concentration of university institutions dedicated to the scientific and clinical development of medicine and medical technology that is unique in Europe. Zurich University Hospital, the University of Zurich and ETH Zurich utilise this proximity in numerous collaborations. With the "Alte Anatomie - Forum für Medizin & Gesellschaft" (Old Anatomy - Forum for Medicine & Society), a new meeting place and place for reflection is being created that focuses on health and illness and places people at the centre.

If medicine not only wants to save lives, but also maintain or improve quality of life, it must also take greater account of the needs and experiences of patients in their non-quantifiable aspects. Humanities and social science perspectives are just as important as medical-human science and technological perspectives. Interprofessionalism and the involvement of the public are a must for the future of medicine. The inclusion of art, design, music and literature can broaden the view of medical research and care practice. Collaborations with universities of applied sciences and other organisations from the healthcare sector are being sought. The history of the building and the future of the university quarter will also be addressed in events. The programme includes internal and public events.
