(…) Roy Ayers’ band Ubiquity, formed in 1970, quickly found its own style and developed a funky jazz that, over the course of twelve albums, was to leave a lasting mark on the sound of an entire era. ‘I was living in New York and flew to Los Angeles in 1973, where I had an appointment at the offices of American International Pictures with Jack Hill, the film’s director. Over the course of two or three days, he told me the whole story, described all the main characters to me and explained the script in detail. On the last day of my visit, I was allowed to watch a final cut without music.
