What remains of sensitivity

Daniela Magnani Hüller (Germany 2026)

‘An act whose incomprehensibility refuses to fade. Fourteen years after falling victim to an attempted femicide, Daniela Magnani Hüller revisits the questions that have never ceased to weigh on her mind. With remarkable composure, she reconstructs the events and the failures. How could those around her have allowed the teenage perpetrator to get away with it? How was the attempted murder prosecuted, and how does it continue to affect her to this day? Interspersed throughout are image collages and voice-over texts: images of sensitivity that lay bare memories and open up the prospect of a life without fear. In this way, the film becomes a visual journey towards her own self, moving away from the image of the victim towards a narrative style that lays bare the circumstances of the crime. Hüller does not ask for pity, but demands accuracy. And she persistently pursues the question: ‘Who bears responsibility?’ (Lichter Filmfest Frankfurt International, May 2026)
