Re:vision on Shadows

Looking closely, looking again, looking differently can sometimes reveal unexpected perspectives. In collaboration with the Adult Education Centre and the journalist Thomas Binotto, the Filmpodium is pleased to present the ninth season of the ‘Re:vision’ lecture series.

Re:vision 9/02 Shadows

It is rare for a debut film to make film history straight away. With Shadows, John Cassavetes presented the American studio system in 1959 with an improvised film, which he shot on 16 mm for a mere 50,000 dollars and which, fittingly, is about jazz. But can a film still be considered improvised once it has been edited and projected onto the screen? Thomas Binotto ventures an attempt at an improvised ‘Re:vision’.

Tickets for the film and the lecture are available separately online; discounted combined tickets are only available at the cinema box office.
