‘Chipperfield’ Architecture Tour x Zurich Design Weeks Special
Design Shop Kunsthaus Zürich x Ivo Allgoewer
To mark Zurich Design Weeks, this special architectural tour of the Kunsthaus extension combines David Chipperfield’s visions with a personal insight into the creation of a perfume inspired by the building.
Led by Anna Bähler, the tour focuses on the interplay between function, space and materiality. It demonstrates how the architecture meets the various requirements of a museum and how light, proportions and materials shape the building’s atmosphere.
The tour concludes in front of the Design Shop. There, Andreas Wilhelm, scent architect and perfumer at Favorit, offers an insight into the creation of ‘Between Art and Matter’, which was developed in collaboration with the Kunsthaus Zürich Design Shop. He explains how the monumental tranquillity of the Chipperfield building and the vibrancy of the art have been translated into a surprising fragrance composition, and discusses the concept, the development process and the olfactory choices behind it.
