Concert-talk: Maria Lassnig & Edvard Munch
A concert and talk to accompany the exhibition, featuring the Zurich Chamber Orchestra
Although Maria Lassnig (1919–2014) and Edvard Munch (1863–1944) were separated by more than half a century, there are striking parallels between their works and biographies. The exhibition’s subtitle, ‘Malfluss = Lebensfluss’ (Flow of Painting = Flow of Life), is taken from a painting by Maria Lassnig. It illustrates the inseparable connection between art and life.
A connection that is also very much applicable to music. Just as in painting, music succeeds in giving expression to the most diverse levels of perception of emotional and physical sensation.
The concert-talk begins with a visit to the special exhibition, ideally just before the concert. That way, the impressions are still fresh and blend effortlessly with the concert programme. Woven into this, art enthusiasts will learn a great deal of fascinating and informative details about the exhibition and the works being performed during a discussion between the ZKO’s artistic director, Franziska Frey, and curator Dr Sandra Gianfreda.
Programme to follow.
