‘Envy and Greed II’ by Sigmar Polke

A conversation about poison, gold and greed in his Biennale contribution *Athanor*, 1986

At the Kunsthaus Zürich, Anna Polke, Bice Curiger and Sophia Stang discuss Sigmar Polke’s work *Envy and Greed II*, 1984, which formed part of his installation *Athanor* in the German Pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 1986.

Taking as its starting point the painting in which Polke draws on *The Seven Deadly Sins*, 1558, by Pieter Bruegel the Elder, the discussion focuses on the themes of transformation, alchemy, poisoning and seduction in Polke’s Biennale contribution and his oeuvre as a whole.

Admission to the discussion is included in the museum ticket. There are 50 seats available. First come, first served.
