Martina Berther and Philipp Schlotter are among the most versatile musicians and composers on the Swiss music scene. From pop to jazz, they play in bands, explore the fringes of sound art and compose music for films. As a duo, they perform at the Wasserkirche with organ, synthesizers and electric bass, pursuing an experimental approach that oscillates between composition and free improvisation. The conceptual minimalism of the two Zurich artists* leaves plenty of room for their ideas to unfold, which in turn gives rise to multi-layered, aesthetic and emotional soundscapes full of spontaneity, intimacy and liveliness.
Their first joint album Matt, which they will present at the Wasserkirche, was released in September 2023 on the Lucerne label Hallow Ground.
