Sebass are kicking off their anniversary season in fine form, presenting new music alongside well-loved classics from their repertoire. The recipe remains unchanged: with energy, playfulness and virtuosity, they get everyone in front of the stage moving. But their driving Balkan music does more than get people dancing – it also transcends cultural boundaries, whether in intimate traditional venues, on festival stages, in underground clubs or in classical concert halls.

The compositions of Sebass members Seraphim von Werra and Nehrun Aliev reflect a remarkable stylistic diversity and a deep familiarity with the different musical traditions of the Balkans. At the same time, they express a love for the wild, improvisation-rich musical traditions of the Roma. Their songs are sung in various languages, the rhythms are sometimes irregular, and the melodies evoke Mediterranean summer nights.

To mark the anniversary, the band is also releasing its latest album, Nostalgija – a diverse body of work that showcases the creativity and multifaceted character of the group. A number of guest musicians add further depth to the album. And for the first time in the band’s twenty-year history, listeners can also hear songs in Swiss German.
