Signs of the Amazon - The Body as a Canvas

For the exhibition "Amazonian Legacies – Art and Archaeology"

As part of the exhibition Amazonian Legacies, Brazilian visual and performance artist Anita Ekman and indigenous artist Larissa Ye'padiho Duarte invite participants to explore the human body as a creative canvas. As a researcher of rock paintings, pre-colonial art and the history of the rainforest, Anita Ekman draws inspiration from the rich visual heritage of Amazonia.

The workshop begins with a guided tour of the exhibition, followed by a hands-on session in which participants create body stamps inspired by patterns, symbols and motifs found in Amazonian rock art. Through this creative process, participants explore how images and signs can be expressed on and through the body.
