Weaving Together: Amazonian Craft and Knowledge
In the context of the exhibition “Amazonian Legacies – Art and Archaeology”
In Amazonia, house roofs are traditionally woven from palm leaves. This is a communal activity. Darwin Grefa, political leader of the Nación Originaria Quijos from the Ecuadorian Amazon, joins us as a guest and invites visitors to take part in this practice. As participants weave a roof together using recycled materials from the museum, the activity creates a space for exchange and dialogue while introducing the traditional weaving techniques of his community.
Further dates: 1, 6 and 8 November 2026, each from 3 to 5 pm.
