Music from India: Sahana Banerjee (Sitar) & Udai Mazumdar (Tabla)

Experience a morning filled with spiritual depth and technical virtuosity with two of the leading exponents of Indian classical music. The guests are the renowned sitar player Sahana Banerjee and the tabla virtuoso Udai Mazumdar, two outstanding representatives of their musical traditions.

Sahana Banerjee captivates audiences with her expressive and nuanced sitar playing. Born into a musical family – her father was the sitar and surbahar master Pandit Santosh Banerjee – she was introduced to the traditions of the Rampur Senia Gharana at an early age. Accompanying her is Udai Mazumdar, whose precise sense of rhythm and many years of international concert performances have made him a much sought-after tabla player. Together, they showcase the diversity of North Indian art music, in which melody and rhythm merge into a vibrant musical dialogue.

Let yourself be transported to a world full of subtle nuances of sound and rhythmic finesse. An unforgettable concert experience for connoisseurs and those discovering Indian musical culture for the first time.
