TO BE OR TO APPEAR

In the documentary performance ‘Sein oder Schein’, seven masked ‘guests’ engage in a surreal dialogue with the city. Poetically, critically and with subtle humour, they explore issues of migration, belonging, women’s rights and love. ‘The city’ itself guides the evening – a voice seeking conversation, honest, curious and demanding. Yet closeness is complicated: cultures, desires and expectations clash, misunderstandings arise, and contradictions remain. Why does the city want to meet its residents? And why do the residents engage in this conversation? What do they want from one another?

‘Sein oder Schein’ invites you to an encounter that is as fragile as it is necessary.
