Redefining School – Education in the Age of AI
Zurich has long made its mark on the history of education thanks to Pestalozzi. Yet this history is never complete. Social upheavals and, in particular, technological turning points are constantly redefining what is taught in schools and what skills people will need in the future. We therefore ask: How have social change and the school system repeatedly influenced one another? And are we once again at a turning point today? In an age of knowledge constantly available on the World Wide Web, with pocket calculators, automatic spell-checkers and AI, what should schools even be teaching anymore? What do we really need – as individuals, but also as a society?
This will be discussed by the educational historian Michael Geiss, Head of the Research Centre for Education and Digital Transformation at the Zurich University of Teacher Education, and Marina Weisband, a psychologist specialising in education in the digital society.
Moderator: Yves Bossart
The event is being held in collaboration with the Einfach Zürich association.
