A historical tour for the visually illiterate

Brochures, posters and even typography are a goldmine for historians. The prerequisite, however, is that they engage with the intersections of visual and written cultures and also address the political dimension that is always inherent in graphic design. This guided tour is intended as an attempt to place the legacy of visual communication – which emerged in the context of propaganda and advertising – within its historical context.
