Memento Mori – death is inevitable

Special guided tour on All Saints’ Day

For centuries, Catholic believers have celebrated the dual feast of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day at the beginning of November. This is a time not only to commemorate the saints, but also to pray for the departed. What beliefs did people in the past hold about life after death, and which customs surrounding death have been passed down through the ages? A tour of the National Museum in search of artefacts and traditions relating to the theme of death.
