Swiss graphic design: from posters to hypermedia

Taking the ‘Grafik’ exhibition at the Swiss National Museum as its starting point, the focus is on both the change and the continuity in graphic design throughout the 20th and 21st centuries.
How are the demands of multimedia changing the work of designers?  What role do technological shifts play – from the craft of the commercial artist in the 1930s to the designers of the digital generation? And how are new tools changing the reality of design work, creative standards and economic conditions?
Together with pioneers and contemporary voices from the world of design, we will discuss how creative practice has evolved over the decades, where design continuities lie, and what future prospects are shaping the discipline today.

Exchange of experiences and panel discussion with:

• Rosmarie Tissi (graphic designer, pioneering figure of Swiss Modernism)
•   Felix Pfäffli (poster designer and founder of studio feixen)
• Richard Feurer (designer, lecturer and expert in visual culture)

The panel discussion will be moderated by Elinor Landmann.

The event is free of charge. Booking is compulsory.
