Paper Song
Annelies Van Hullebusch & Wanda Eyckerman (BE)
Two ghosts haunt a house that is actually far too small for them. Somewhere, carpet cleaners are rattling away, a spotlight plummets into the depths, and right in the middle of it all lies – quite naturally – a stranded orca. Tourists who were actually supposed to be there are conspicuous by their absence. A pair of binoculars searches for something that might not even be found. And somewhere, without a doubt, the world’s biggest peanut is waiting to be discovered. Perhaps.
Three observations take the audience on a journey: What actually deserves a second look? Where do we prefer to look away? And who is actually observing whom here – when suddenly no one is looking anymore? ‘A Beginner’s Guide to Sightseeing’ plays with the act of looking itself: with real, invented and rather spectacular sights.
