Reproductive justice: Sibel Schick and Alicia Baier

Reading and discussion as part of the KIN Festival

Two books, one pressing question: what is needed to make reproductive justice a reality?

Author Sibel Schick ("My Body – Whose Decision? Why we need reproductive justice”) and “Doctors for Choice” founding chair Dr Alicia Baier (“Patriarchy in the Uterus») approach the issue from different perspectives.

On this evening, they will read from their latest books and discuss the importance of reproductive justice and bodily self-determination – from personal experience to structural contexts.

This event is part of the KIN Festival – as well as the public launch of Cramp Mag, a newsletter on reproductive rights by journalist Gabriella Alvarez-Hummel, who will be hosting the evening.

Alicia Baier Dr Alicia Baier works as a gynaecologist and has been campaigning for years, both politically and medically, for better care in relation to abortion. She founded the group Medical Students for Choice in Berlin whilst still a student. After graduating, she founded Doctors for Choice Germany, an association committed to needs-based care in the field of reproductive health, and has served on its board since 2019. In 2025, she was invited to Berlin as an expert witness for the public hearing of the Legal Affairs Committee on the draft bill ‘New Regulation of Abortion’.
