‘Destination Montevideo’

Album launch: Marisol Redondo

Where does the urge to compose new songs come from? What role do our childhood, our birthplace and our roots play in inspiring us? What about the first rhythms we danced to when we were young? How do our current life experiences influence us?

Marisol Redondo presents seven new compositions on ‘Destino Montevideo’ – and dedicates these songs to all those who catch the leaves that fall in the autumns of their lives (‘Oro Viejo’). To those who give her the green light and invite her to cross the road (‘El Semaforo’). To everyone who fights for life, even when no one is watching (‘Porque Vale La Pena’). To the little stars born to show us the way in the dark (“Only One Light”). To the youngest children, who always tell us the truth without words (“Pies Descalzos”). To her grandmother, her mother, her whole family and her true friends (“Estoy Viva”). And to the city where she was born – the city that inspires her to keep going, even when she’s walking barefoot (‘Candombe Del Destino’).

Line-up: José Kosito (Cuba, piano), Dudu Penz (Brazil, bass), Sebastián Córdoba (Colombia, guitar), Freddy Benítez (Colombia, percussion), Marisol Redondo (Uruguay, vocals and harp)
