Care City statt Christmas City

On 4 December, we’re hosting a caring reading evening at the Debattierhaus. An evening of stories, visions and reflections on how we might live differently and look after one another.

Lea Whitcher takes us on a journey into the world of Care City and reads selected texts from the literary research project #carecity _stories*. Care City is an ongoing art project that imagines a city in which care work is visible, socially valued and structurally embedded. The author Lena Käsermann will then read from texts on motherhood, care work and feminist perspectives. She brings an additional literary perspective to the topic of care.

This reading evening will be interpreted into Swiss German Sign Language (DSGS) and will take place as a ‘relaxed performance’. This means that an atmosphere that is as relaxed and accessible as possible will be created. For example, you are allowed to move around, rustle, make noises or briefly leave the room and return during the event. Different needs and ways of listening are welcome.

About InkluVision This evening is a pre-event for the InkluVision Festival, the fourth edition of which will take place from 1 to 4 June 2027 at the Debattierhaus. As part of the National Action Days for the Rights of People with Disabilities, the festival creates spaces for encounter, exchange and participation. Together with a participation group, the Karl der Grosse is thus placing the perspectives of people with disabilities at the centre. Panels, cultural events and workshops will explore what an inclusive society and working world look like and how existing barriers can be broken down.
