After almost two years of radio silence, TRÄNEN are back with their second album, “Leben in einer Katze”, which will see them embark on the “Die Erde ist mein Traum” Tour 2027 next February. 

Gwen Dolyn and Steffen Israel have announced an album that sounds bigger, poppier, more radical and more vulnerable than anything the band has done before. “Leben in einer Katze” is an album about belonging, longing, anger and love – told from the perspective of an alien being, of visitors from other planets and of people who do not feel at home on Earth. But it’s not just escapism.

This alien perspective sharpens our view of reality. In the world of this album, there’s humour, irony, talking cats, fields at night, old flying objects, lashing barbed wire and sweaty bottoms. At the same time, the album openly explores love, shame, desire, anger, physicality, loneliness, justice and a world in which one is allowed to stay – and actually wants to. ‘Leben in einer Katze’ is a rejection of contemporary pop that claims to be vulnerable but rarely takes any risks. 

TRÄNEN aren’t interested in feelings that are defused before they can become intense – and thus dangerous. Their songs seek intimacy without sugar-coating things. They pose big questions without immediately defusing them with irony. And then there’s loud laughter.
