Jen is 17 and might be pregnant by a guy whose first name she doesn’t know. Between period trackers, pregnancy tests, chats with her friends and a mum who’s about to ‘flip out’, she tries to figure out how much of a future fits into a body that’s only just starting to grow up.
Her friends Nini and Ka react differently: Nini dreams of godparenthood and marshmallow songs, while Ka demands a realistic and clear decision. And then there’s Luis, who is in love with Jen and would be willing to raise the child with her – even if he isn’t the father.
With direct language, dark humour and poetic flights of fancy, Eva Rottmann’s play explores the issues of motherhood and contemporary family structures, abortion, and the connection between class and reproductive rights.
Eva Rottmann has received numerous awards for her writing, including the 2025 Swiss Children’s and Young Adult Literature Prize for her novel ‘Fucking Fucking Schön’.
At Junge Marie, young adults with no formal acting training work under professional guidance to create a play aimed at a young audience. Drawing on their own perspectives on the body, consent and the future, they produce a contemporary production that gives voice to a variety of viewpoints.
