Dancing idiots

Goldie is doing what she loves most: she’s renovating her house. Her joy is as infectious as it is unsettling, because Goldie is seriously ill. She wants to make the most of life with a body that is failing her. Suddenly the doorbell rings and Goldie’s father, who has recently fallen in love, stands at the door with his lover. The two are on their way to the seaside in their camper van and have paid Goldie a surprise visit. Completely unexpectedly, the father, who is almost bursting with happiness, finds himself at his own daughter’s deathbed. He believes he is at the beginning; she knows she is at the end. Once again, the whole world floods into Goldie’s room – everything that makes saying goodbye so difficult. The second part recounts Goldie’s dying. She leaves the Earth behind, and within seconds her room becomes outer space.

In TANZENDE IDIOTEN, the illustrious ensemble plays survivors on the way to the next catastrophe. What defines them is a ludicrous mixture of brutality and tenderness, existential anguish and a zest for life. Over the course of the evening, the audience experiences alongside Goldie the things that are hard to say goodbye to: wild kayaking trips, sleeping hangovers, sauna visits gone wild and a baby’s forgotten memories. We look forward to seeing the brilliant team again, who were guests at the Kurtheater in January 2024 with VERRÜCKT NACH TROST.
