Freezing Point
Freezing Point was a progressive rock band formed in Wetzikon in 1970 by drummer Beat (Boss) Schmid, guitarist Jack Zweifel, keyboardist Christoph Küderli, flautist Andreas Lutz and bassist Rino Bonvicini. From 1972 onwards, their set list consisted solely of their own compositions. The band then toured throughout Switzerland and gave very successful concerts.
From 1975, ‘Witches Life’ – a work centred on the medieval witch hunts in Great Britain – formed the main part of their concerts.
As some of the original band members could no longer be persuaded to take part in a reunion (2021), two veteran rockers from Wetzikon, Felix Bachmann and Peter Tanner, were recruited to join the line-up. Finally, Claudio Caretta also joined the band.
Line-up: Speedy Bösch (dr), Rino Bonvicini (b), Felix Bachmann (g), Peter Tanner (voc), Claudio Caretta (kb)
Last Avenue
Last Avenue from the Zurich region offers a well-crafted blend of earthy rock music drawing on various traditions, performed with plenty of energy straight from the present day. Whether bluesy riffs, melodic choruses, intoxicating ballads, funky rhythms or virtuoso guitar solos – Last Avenue rocks freely – and, of course, in the familiar tradition of rousing, grand, classic rock shows with frontman Martin Gaisser, who is every bit the equal of his heroes.
The quartet has been dedicated to rock music since 1998. Quite simply, rock music. Their music is deeply rooted in the 1970s and evokes love, rock and freedom. Live, the four musicians quickly win over the audience thanks to their many years of performance experience, strong stage presence and powerful playing style. They also enjoy playing covers of Queen, The Beatles, Pink Floyd and many more from time to time.
