Models – shaping knowledge
Models shape the way we perceive the world. They make knowledge visible, translate complex concepts and phenomena into comprehensible forms, and enable us to convey and understand interrelationships. At ETH Zurich, they have been giving shape to thought for more than 150 years: as teaching aids and as indispensable tools for research, they tell the story of ideas, questions anddiscoveries of their time.
The exhibition "Models – shaping knowledge" presents more than 500 histrorical and contemporary teaching and research models from the collections of ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich — many of them on public display for the first. It offers a thorough insight into the diversity of models: from anatomy and geometry to crystallography and aerodynamics.
