When knowledge takes shape

Discover ‘Models – Shaping Knowledge’ at Scientifica 2026.

On the ‘When Knowledge Takes Shape’ guided tours as part of Scientifica 2026, you’ll discover mathematical plaster models, crystal forms, anatomical models made of wax and papier-mâché, as well as aircraft models from the ETH Zurich wind tunnel. Each object tells a story about how researchers illustrate complex relationships and gain new insights through modelling.

By the way: at Scientifica 2026, the exhibition ‘Models – Shaping Knowledge’ in the ETH Main Building will be open throughout the event. Visit the exhibition and discover more than 500 historical and contemporary teaching and research models from the scientific collections of ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich – many of which are on public display for the first time.
