My heart will go on – Das Titanic-Projekt

By Leonie Böhm and Theatre HORA

Does the sea have a heart?

I’m actually quite sure it does. When I go for a swim, I see fish swimming left and right. The sea’s heart opens up. The sea’s heart lies deep down below. Many hot hearts from volcanoes. The water cools them down. Human hearts on the seabed. They turn into dolphins and crocodiles and starfish. Down there, deep below, there’s a current. Mighty water. A reminder of new beginnings.”
(Written by Andy Böni and Caitlin Friedly from the HORA Ensemble with the support of theatre educator Anna Fierz)

The film ‘Titanic’ is a pop culture classic. Together with the HORA Theatre, Leonie Böhm has reworked the film’s narrative. The result is the play ‘My Heart Will Go On’.

Just like the film, the play deals with farewells, loss and new beginnings. The participants explore how they themselves cope with these feelings and situations. They re-enact scenes from ‘Titanic’ and bring familiar images back to life – but within a new, altered context. This gives the scenes a new meaning. And they examine what happens to us as the audience in the process. With patience and time, the performers immerse themselves in the themes of farewell and letting go. And they make it clear: love possesses an incredibly great power. It is stronger than any loss. And deeper than any farewell.

A production by Theater HORA in co-production with Fabriktheater Rote Fabrik and Theater Basel.

Running time: approx. 90 minutes
