Sheer Mag

Sheer Mag play rock music as if rock music hadn’t already been invented a thousand times over.

The Philadelphia-based quartet blends punk, power pop and classic rock ’n’ roll into a sound that feels both familiar and original: gritty guitars, big choruses and loads of energy.

For over ten years, the band led by Tina Halladay has been moving between small, sweaty punk clubs and the big stages of rock. The band pays refreshingly little attention to genre boundaries, as is also the case on their third album Playing Favourites. The record is direct, melodic and has a keen sense of what makes a good song.

Whilst much of contemporary rock sounds like it’s following a concept, Sheer Mag focus on something quite straightforward: rock songs that have a purpose – and that should be listened to at full volume.
