As part of the Zurich Theatre Spectacle: vocal performance. Yodelling choreography
She screams, stamps her feet, gasps and speaks as she breathes in. With ‘AAA’, Jana Jacuka continues her vocal research. Building on her earlier work ‘HA’, in which she explored laughter as sound and focused on the vowel sounds H and A, she is now investigating the vocal, physical and political dimensions of each letter, as well as the practice of yodelling. Using extreme vocal techniques and precise choreography, she explores how the voice and body can permeate the entire space. A performative exploration of the choreographic potential of our vocal cords – precise, engaging and curious – in which the voice becomes an extension of the body and offers the audience a sensory experience.
