LETTER ON THE ACT

A workshop organised by Einfache Gesellschaft WintschRathSchröder

A thousand words are worth more than a picture

So, just as in life drawing, where pencil points, brushes or chalk are used to transfer the shapes, contours and volume of a person onto paper and canvas, in this workshop we will use language to explore the body of a nude model.

The setting: a nude model and a group of writers attempting to put into words what they see – or what they do not see. Your body – my poetry. Whether it’s a short story, dialogue, a poem, lyrical-anatomical landscape descriptions, or freely associative sequences of words… whatever springs to mind when you look at the person opposite you. What can be gleaned about identity from a nude model in the space of an afternoon? What does a body tell us? Accompanied by an author who hosts the workshop and coaches participants as needed, we’ll give free rein to our powers of observation and imagination. You’re free to write in whatever language you like. Give it a go.

That same evening, following the workshop, the participants’ literary creations will be shared with an audience in the form of a public reading. Live and with plenty of fun and excitement.
