Sofa Reading: Julia Haenni – A Woman Disappears. A Trilogy – SOLD OUT
Originally written for the theatre and performed in countless theatres both in Germany and in German-speaking countries abroad, the successful and multi-award-winning playwright is presenting the book based on the play and will be our guest at the next sofa reading.
Julia Haenni’s text ‘frau verschwindet. Eine Trilogie’ (Der Verlag der Autoren 2025) is about precisely that – the disappearance of women. Whether in crime statistics, history or medical research, women are still disappearing. Again. The book consists of three texts originally written for the theatre, in which humour is not left by the wayside. She also shows how her protagonists make the act of disappearing their own and thus free themselves from stubborn patriarchal structures. Julia Haenni is regarded as one of Switzerland’s most remarkable playwrights and was awarded the Bern Literature Prize for “frau verschwindet”.
