Julia von Lucadou – Times of Increased Danger
Julia von Lucadou explores the fissures in a present where control becomes an illusion.
What fears lie hidden in the depths of repression? Jot is in his mid-50s and has spent his life focusing entirely on planning and control. He works for a company that sells bunkers to the super-rich and is therefore prepared for any emergency in his private life too – or so he believes. When he stumbles upon a dead body whilst out running, his carefully constructed life suddenly begins to crumble. Why can’t he shake off the image of the dead body – and is it really suicide, as the police say? In her new novel *Zeiten erhöhter Gefahr* (Hanser Berlin 2026), film scholar and author Julia von Lucadou offers a subtle exploration of the uncertainties and missteps of our present day.
