Jaroslav Rudiš – Where the Dead Speak
What do the dead have to say – and who is best not to listen to?
Three friends – Lorenzo, Caspar and Miss Detroit – set off on a road trip to the cemeteries of Central Europe and the ghosts of the past. In their luggage: the bones of a Nazi criminal, which they have stolen from a grave in Berlin to forestall looting ‘Reich citizens’. What begins as an absurd mission turns into a fast-paced chase that brings the trio closer to the voices of the dead. The new novel *Where the Dead Speak* (Luchterhand 2026) by the Czech cult author Jaroslav Rudiš tells the fast-paced and humorous story of an odyssey along the borders of Central Europe, whilst asking what it is that binds us together.
