Collection Insights: “She-Devils on Wheels – Headquaters” mit Kamilla Ødegård

What are the biggest challenges in preserving installation artworks? Unlike other art forms, installations can change from exhibition to exhibition and adapt to the exhibition space, a curatorial concept or the spirit of the times. Variability can be an intentional aspect of a work of art, particularly in the case of installations, but it can also result from conservation measures.

What influence do artists have on the form their works take when reinstalled in a new environment? How can works be preserved amidst these changes? Which elements of a work remain unchanged and which can be altered?

We will explore these questions using two works by Sylvie Fleury from the Migros Museum’s collection.
