Gregor Stäheli – Out Of Office
We spend around half of our waking hours working. Whether it’s for success, self-fulfilment or simply to pay the rent – sometimes unforeseen events force us back into the job market and, with that, into involuntary self-reflection: What are my strengths and weaknesses? Where do I see myself in five years’ time? Or, more fundamentally: what am I actually doing here?
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle once said: ‘Work is the best remedy for despair’. But isn’t it sometimes precisely the cause of it?
In his first full-length show, comedian and slam poet Gregor Stäheli recounts his own career path – or rather, his winding trail – and takes a critical look at all the familiar absurdities of everyday working life, as well as the well-worn clichéd questions of a job interview.
Tackling themes such as office monotony, pressure to perform and the search for meaning, he bridges the gap between his years spent juggling office life and the stage, bringing the two worlds together – in a stand-up comedy programme paired with absurd slam stories.
‘Out Of Office’ takes a step back and looks at our daily work – with one eye laughing and the other laughing out of sheer desperation.
Take that, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle! Perhaps we shouldn’t listen to him anyway. After all, his protagonist is a detective with a dreadful work-life balance.
