Meet Milena Marena
The Feierabend Concerts are entering their next season: free admission, a bar service and a post-concert chat in the foyer with the star of the evening – Milena Marena. The sought-after soloist and chamber musician has been principal cellist of the Musikkollegium Winterthur since the 2025/26 season. She will perform Robert Schumann’s romantically lyrical Cello Concerto, composed during a period marked by both high productivity and mental illness. An iconic work in the cello repertoire, it demands both virtuosity and sensitivity from its soloist. Refinement also characterises Joseph Haydn’s famous London Symphony, ‘The Miracle’. Its world premiere, with Haydn himself conducting, is said to have utterly captivated the audience of the time. Leo McFall and the musicians of the Musikkollegium Winterthur thus have big shoes to fill. Why is the symphony nicknamed “The Miracle” and what was the story behind Schumann’s mental state? You can find out this and more at the moderated concert.
The bar in the foyer opens at 5.00 pm. Join the artists for a post-concert get-together.
