When light becomes a message: in the Arctic night of Greenland, people have illuminated their homeland – icebergs and glaciers that are disappearing. In temperatures of minus 40 degrees, the team of artists Nomi Baumgartl, Sven Nieder, Yatri N. Niehaus and Laali Lyberth, together with Greenlandic ‘light ambassadors’ of all generations, created breathtaking long-exposure photographs beneath the Northern Lights. Stella Polaris Ulloriarsuaq documents the Earth’s luminous memory in magical snapshots and, in the face of climate change, builds a bridge between art, culture and science to raise awareness.
