Over and over again
When we describe something as repetitive, we often mean: boring. And yet we find comfort in the repetition of our rituals. In the careful preparation of our first coffee in the morning. In the familiar journey to work. In the little routines that mark the start or end of the day. Repetition is a fundamental element of our everyday rituals – a way of continually rediscovering ourselves.
This concert explores repetition as a musical force. Recurring sounds, mechanical gestures, structures built on copying and shifting: What happens to our perception when we hear the same passage over and over again? And again and again?
