Sphaera III

With its unusual and transparent instrumentation, "Sphaera III" explores the field of tension between the two hemispheres of its own sound cosmos: lyrical, floating music full of rich harmonies and great melodic dramaturgy collides with a sometimes dark and rugged world of stirring sounds and multi-layered structures. The bassless trio centred around the sensitive composer and drummer Hannes Wittwer explores this scenario with both delicate poetry and uncompromising urgency and power. Only the confrontation of the two supposedly antagonistic hemispheres allows their boundaries to dissolve and merge into the sphere that gives them their name: contemporary jazz on the path of a "European" aesthetic with references to free improvisation and new music.
