Reeto von Gunten

2052 – further provision made

Business as usual? Not quite. Even in the care home, something new happens every day. And so Reeto von Gunten has continued to write his diaries: The year is 2052, the rollator gang is bolder, the jackets more worn, the hobbies weirder and the plans more daring.

Friends of “2050 – cleverly planned” can look forward to a sequel, and new gang members are warmly welcome as he once again paints a picture of his – and all our – absurd future in the care home. Of course, his Geronto Gang still reigns supreme there, hatching pranks with their pimped-out walkers and decorated jackets, giving the management a hard time and celebrating the joy of growing old.

“2052 – weiter vorgesorgt” is next-level geronto-science fiction. Pranks and high culture rolled into one. You laugh out loud and quietly, reflect and think ahead, and realise that you can actually look forward to your time in the care home.

Reeto von Gunten is an author, spoken word artist and radio presenter at SRF3, and knows how to tell stories in a way that is as captivating and absurd as almost no one else. The ‘High Priest of Hipsters’ (NZZ) with the ‘voice that can warm a room’ (Berner Bund) manages to create a form of cabaret that delights, inspires and lingers in the memory. After all, we all eventually grow older than we feel inside.

By and starring Reeto von Gunten. A production by Atelieer.

The building at Hechtplatz 7 will undergo renovation from January 2026. During this time, we will be presenting our programme at Haus Seefeld (Seefeldstrasse 91, 8008 Zurich).
