The Final Beginning
Leni Plöchl
Leni Plöchl has a new calling: funeral orator. She is in the middle of her training and has already completed a distance-learning degree in theology, something her largely atheist family and her friends find downright embarrassing. But perhaps she feels it most of all herself. With this latest new beginning – for the time being, at least – she faces some completely unexpected challenges. She’d imagined things would be different.
Her work is increasingly shifting between black humour and existential confusion: instead of burying people, she now comforts animals before their final injection with a prayer designed to help their guilt-ridden, single parents too. Instead of reciting significant Bible passages with dignity, she packages prayers as adventurous true-crime episodes to win over the bereaved.
She used to be a clown. That wasn’t easy either. What remains are timing, insecurity and a questionable relationship with dignity. ‘The Last Beginning’ is an evening full of absurd situations, in which the character stumbles through various lives and professionalism serves merely as a comical façade.

The wheelchair space and the space for the accompanying person are located near the stage (rows 1-4), directly by the door and can be requested in the ticket shop or at the theatre box office. As soon as we have received your enquiry, our box office team will contact you to enquire about the dimensions of the wheelchair and determine the optimum seating solution based on this.

There is a spacious, barrier-free WC at Limmatquai 4 directly behind the theatre (Zürcherhof 1st floor, next to the lift) and a Züri-WC at Bellevue (at the back between the VBZ ticket office and Deli-Snack on the Bellevue service island). Both are accessible with a Eurokey. If you need assistance from the theatre team when going to the barrier-free WC or would like to use one during the interval, please report to the cloakroom.
