We’re bringing together the king of English drama and the kings of English rock ’n’ roll:

Richard III – the archetypal ‘bad boy’ of world literature. The Rolling Stones – the ‘bad boys’ of rock.

In our musical theatre production, we aim to bring clarity to Shakespeare’s complex story with plenty of humour and a light touch: Richard III is a play in which all the characters are interchangeable. In our production, these characters are portrayed by puppets.

War is raging; the famous War of the Roses between two English noble houses, both from the same lineage. It dismantles established structures. Families conspire not only against other families, but also against their own: The uncle wishes to marry his niece and kills two brothers in order to court their sister, having previously taken as his wife the widow of the heir to the throne, whom he also had murdered. It is easy to lose track of just who Richard has on his conscience.

Richard III clearly shows how people are manipulated and how they are led through history like puppets.

The power games of the historical figures are powerfully accompanied by the music of the Stones.
