In the footsteps of Don Quixote

A literary and musical journey with Ces Noteboom, Jacques Ibert and Maurice Ravel

The first great character in world literature – as mad as he is wise – on a journey that takes him from Madrid to the historic region of La Mancha, situated to the south-east.

A modern myth that has spread far and wide from the Iberian Peninsula, and its elusive author: ‘Everyone knows what Don Quixote looked like, but to this day there is no reliable image of his spiritual father.’

Amidst knights, windmills and absurdly comical encounters, this evening joins the unlikely pair, Don Quixote and Sancho Panza, on a literary and musical quest to trace their own origins.

An evening of literature set to music: featuring texts by Miguel de Cervantes, Heinrich Heine and Vladimir Nabokov, and music by, amongst others, Ces Noteboom, Jacques Ibert, Maurice Ravel, Jules Massenet, Robert Schumann and Hugo Wolf.
